Iranian origin of Bharatha's
Center of palace is ever burning sabhya fire Fire where men Gather around
This work is based on thorough study of various aspects related to history of Vedic tribes taking into account some known documented historic movement as well as those attested in srauta literature .
I have also takes into account those points which is deliberately ignored by proponents and opponents of population movement from and to India . Combining all these theory we will be able to get clear picture of events which changed history of North and Western India .
Till recently there was big hole in history of those those tribes who lived in India proper (Brahmavarta) and beyond , recent archeological and archeogenetist works have thrown open new lights about arche-genetic landscape of indian subcontinent . Any work without taking into account these new field cant be taken seriously .
Iranian Kshatriya’s
Aila or Ilas tribes during pre-rigvedic times resided in Southern Afghanistan and Eastern Iran . Rigveda has only information of three generation’s prior to Divodasa , his father is called Vadyrasva his grandfather is srnjaya and his grand grand father daivavata. Only Mandala 6,4,3 preserved the word “daiva” where as mandala 7 shows name changed to Devavata(7.18.22) . The name Daivavata( 6.27.7) shows iranian feature "daiva" , we find mentioned of tribe called parthava(6.27.08) in the same hymn .
Some indian scholars place Mandala 6 as oldest in this mandala hymns 16 and 47 mentions Bharathas(6.16.04,6.16.19,6.16.41,6.16.45) as associated with Atharvans (6.15.6,6.16.12-13,6.47.24), there is mention of prince named Asvatha/Asvatta (6.47.24)giving gift to Atharvans . It is in these hymns that word bharatha also occur’s . Mandala 6 speaks about Atharvan-Bharadvaja allaince . RV 6.15.17 says Atharvan churned fire . Dieties which are associated with Atharvans as per mandala 6 is Agni and Indra .Other than in Mandala 6 In Mandala 1 kaskhivan son of Usij associate him with Asvins and honey, in Mandala 9 Soma pavamana he is associated with honey. Atharvaveda 6.1.1 associate him with Savitr or sun .
Some Indian scholars have quoted Oldenberg to claim Manadala 6 hymns 16 and 47 as Interpolated , but does that mean that hymns is fake or just linguistically updated? Second case could be more likely.
Bharadvajas case is peculiar as they claim to be descendants of brishaspathi priest of devas against asuras but rigvedic sources shows that they were allied with iranian Atharvans in a power struggle against angirasa sub clan of Usij.
Atharvan-angirasa(bharadvaja) alliance was directed against established bhrgu-angiras(Gautama) . Most of Avestan sources mention Usij and Gautama as main opponents of zoroaster .Atharvan-Bharadvaja alliance allowed Iranian Bharathas to expand further into India and displaced Ikhvaku (I will mention briefly about this clan in next chapter) and other native tribes from that region .
Now question will arise isnt Bharathas puru’s ? My replay is yes led by iranian priests and Iranian kings . Their iranian link is shown in Mahabharatha with their marriage alliance with Gandhara region . The religious traditon of Purus are different from rest of India, as its mentioned that king paurava acquired sacred fire from Gandharva’s in NW india Afghanistan region his wife was also Gandharva women .
The manner of fire sacrifice and the number of fires maintained by Iranian Vedic Kshatriyas are also different from that of Indian Vedic brahmin’s . I will mention about it in another blog .
Political situation of Northern India before 2000BCE
Archeologists are unanimous that UP region was inhabited by neolithic hunter gathers as late as 1900BCE .
Ikshvaku tribes occupied most of Ancestral sarayu (1st) region from Western UP , Haryana , Rajastan till Mandhata period(20th king) . Ikshvaku's called Saraswati as Sarayu but when they were displaced because of puru expansion and settled in Central-Eastern UP they renamed river which flows through Ayodhya as Sarayu (ref: Rivers of Rigveda a Geographical Exploration by Jijith Nedumuri Ravi) . When Purus finally captured Ancestral Sarayu region from ikshvakus they renamed the river as Saraswati based on memory of Saraswati river in Afghanistan and Iran . Mandala 4 composed by vamadeva line of Gautama mention only about Ancestral Sarayu region its not surprising that they were also priests of Ikshvaku kings and is mentioned in Ramayana as taking part in royal rituals .
When taking into account analysis of rigveda, I will take totality of hymns not just cherry pick a word to derive any inference , as for chronology of rigveda I consider argument of parpola as more logical ,if one has to take into account that late anukraman’s as valid to derive name of rishi’s and devata of hymn . Then we must accept that hymns in Mandala 1 and Mandala 10 can be historically ancient . A period when mantra’s could have just started being composed and vedanga technique for preservation of vedic text didn't exist . Vedas and Avesta was composed only after meter’s and vedanga was fully developed. There are different opinion of scholars about date of Vedas German Orientalist Martin Huag who studied both Avesta and Veda wrote that some yujurveda nivids calls as more ancient than rigveda . He placed date of oldest section of veda as old as 2400BCE however western scholars have refuted his dates .
Map of Indo-Parthian empire represent Political situation of Oldest Mandala RV6 (2400BCE and before)
Parthians have always tried to reestablish their control over Panjab and Haryana regions which from pre-RV times have been their area of influence . The same situation prevailed during period during RV6 . Parthian King Kavi Cayamana is only king to have been proclaimed as samrat (RV 6.27.08) in his expedition to Interior India . In entire RV only Indra has been given this title .
In Eastern Iran Parthians were associated with Parsus this was the case during Dasaranjana, but there is very little or no information of who their associates are in Critical North East Iran . For that we need to take reference from tribes mentioned in both Oldest Avesta that is Yasna and Oldest Rigveda Mandala 6.
